"Practical Trough Making" Ian and Carole Bainbridge

Raffle and plant sales table.

Ian and Carole will demonstrate how to convert a polystyrene fish box into a fully constructed alpine trough which will be raffled off at the end of the evening. This promises to be a really interesting evening.

"Primulas and Auriculas" Ingrid Millington

Ingrid and husband John own Hillview Hardy Plants in Worfield, nr. Bridgnorth, Shropshire, where they are specialist growers of herbaceous plants.  They are also holders of the National Collection of Acanthus.  If you visited Tatton Flower Show this year you will have seen their Acanthus collection in the Plant Heritage National Collections display and may have bought herbaceous plants from their sales table in the same marquee.  The genus Primula is an important genus and contains about 430 species.  This evening Ingrid will introduce us to the wide variety in this fascinating group of plants.

Anne has been working as a garden designer for almost twenty-five years, primarily in and around Manchester and Cheshire. Passionate about plants, particularly roses and the old cottage garden perennials, she is known for creating beautiful English Country gardens, both large and small. She will share with us before and after photographs of her many garden designs and the planning behind creating a new garden.

1½ acre garden and hardy plant nursery, originally orchard, now has gravel garden with pots and seating area bottle wall and folly, shrubs, herbaceous borders, large stream-fed pond with woodland walk. Sculpture, Victorian fern house. Oak-framed, summerhouse, log cabin as sculpture gallery fronted by cottage garden beds. Beach area, teas in Coach house. Extensive sculpture collection, the work of Thompson Dagnall.

Admission £6 Tea & Cake Entrance donated to National Garden Scheme

A walled garden incorporating a church folly. Landscaped with reclaimed materials from historic sites in the Southport area. There are several water features, an extensive herbaceous border and various areas of differing planting, thus creating a garden with great interest.

A rambling cottage garden made up of many different rooms. Featuring water features and George's prize winning grotto from the Southport show in 2017. Abundant wildlife and unusual plants and a very warm welcome await.
